Economics – Spring/Summer 2021

Due to the unusual worldwide COVID-19 pandemic crisis, candidates should note that there is no guarantee courses in Spring/Summer, 2021 will be in person. The selected candidate will benefit from a variety of resources (Moodle Hub, Proctorio exam software and the ITS-TLC instructional support team) made available to them to support them in the delivery of the course(s) online. Also, teaching days could include Saturdays.

Given the unique circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Government of Quebec and its “Direction générale de la santé publique” have issued guidelines and recommended practices to prevent the contagion from spreading and to protect the public’s health. Bishop’s University is committed to complying with these guidelines and recommendations for the purposes of its teaching mission.

Although Bishop’s University is planning its Spring/Summer 2021 semester based on a hybrid model, we will comply with government guidelines and recommendations. As such, should the government introduce more stringent measures to respect after the Spring/Summer 2021 semester begins, Bishop’s University may have to further restrict physical access to the university campus and order all teaching and evaluation activities to be provided online for the remainder of the Spring/Summer 2021 semester.

To ensure that teaching activities run smoothly this Spring/Summer, 2021 semester, Bishop’s University is asking professors to make sure that they have access to:

  1. An up-to-date desktop computer, with webcam OR an up-to-date laptop computer with built-in webcam;
  2. Headphones with microphone; and
  3. Access to high speed internet with download speed of at least 7Mb/s (megabit/second) and an upload speed of 3Mb/s which are optimal for participating in video-based online learning.
  4. In the event that you do not have access to a suitable computer and/or high speed Internet, the University will provide access to an equipped space, physically on campus from which to teach, provided the government does not require the university to close because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In accordance with article 6.2.3 (a,b,c) of the Contract Faculty Collective Agreement, applications are invited for the following course(s) to be offered during the Spring/Summer 2021 semester:

ECO 126 – Economics of Crime and Criminal Justice

The course(s) will be allotted in accordance with the Contract Faculty Collective Agreement. Remuneration for each three-credit course is $ 8,326.56 with travel and marking expenses provided where appropriate. Given the current situation with the COVID-19 pandemic, applicants must be prepared to teach fully online.

Contract Faculty members who have seniority points may submit a letter of interest via e-mail. Candidates applying for a course that they do not have seniority for should submit full applications by e-mail (covering letter, curriculum vitae, and any other materials required to demonstrate that they have the necessary expertise for the course).

En respect de l’article 6.2.3 (a, b, c) de la Convention collective de l’Association des professeurs à temps partiel de l’Université Bishop’s, le Département d’études françaises et québécoises sollicite des candidatures afin de donner le cours suivant jusqu’à la fin du semestre Hiver 2021 :

FRE155 Culture and Society. Conversational French II, offert le mercredi de 18 h à 21 h, en ligne.

La rémunération est établie selon la convention collective. Les candidates et candidats devront parler couramment le français et l’anglais, posséder minimalement un diplôme de maîtrise dans un champ de compétence approprié ainsi qu’une expérience de l’enseignement universitaire. De plus, une préférence sera accordée aux candidates et candidats ayant déjà employé ou pouvant démontrer une bonne connaissance des approches communicative et actionnelle. En raison de la pandémie de COVID-19, les candidates et candidats devront être en mesure de donner le cours en ligne, en totalité.

Pour l’instant, les dossiers de candidature ne devront comprendre qu’un curriculum vitae et une lettre de motivation.
